So I recently got to watch a few episodes of the Japanese version and the differences are just wow.
For a start, Kasumi slaps Satoshi in the first episode. She does this for not looking at Pikachu first instead of taking care of Pikachu or even looking at him.
Her voice isn't as annoying. So there's that at least.
Kasumi's sisters aren't dumb. 4kids made her sisters dumber to make Misty look better. It's like rather than removing the sexism they just translated it over in a way more appealing to western eyes. If they're going to translate sexism can they at least do it accurately.
I really don't get why people keep telling me that Kasuty is a feminist character. There is nothing good about her. She's just a sterotypical nagging girlfriend character that we've seen a billion times before, espcually in anime. Do you know that anime is a lot more comfortable showing a variety of female characters than western media, right? Praising her for having an inch of personality is meaningless when she's coming from a culture where the average boob anime girl has a mile of personality. Or am I supposed to be judging Misty. Like wow, they took a character and made her a bit less feminist but still not enough to look at around the same level as our deerly 'just a girl' or 'just a girl who like boy stuff' characters.
